Below we have provided our standard moving questionnaire for email. These questions provide us with all of the information we need to prepare our movers to complete your move safely and expediently. Helping Hands Questionnaire
- Please provide your most up to date contact phone number, email address and your full name.
- What date and time would you most prefer? We usually arrive at your requested time or earlier. Unpredictable accidents and emergencies require us to retain a 3 hour arrival window, in which we would provide timely updates of our ETA as the day progresses. Special arrangements can be made for moves involving freight elevators to accommodate your reservation with your building.
- Is your move a load up, unload or both? If both, please perform a walk through inspection with the staff before traveling to the destination to ensure nothing is left behind.
- Please provide us with the full address(es) of the move location(s). Also, please clearly designate the origin and destination addresses.
- What size truck have you rented (applicable to Labor-Only Service), or will we be providing the truck?
- If an apartment, which floor is each residence on? If a house, how many stories are there? How far can the truck park from the entrance to your individual home/apartment’s doorway?
- If your move involves an apartment building, how long is the hallway from your unit to the elevator? Also, will there be a freight elevator? and if so, what time slot has the management provided for our exclusive use?
- If the move involves a storage center, is it outdoors where you pull right up to it or indoors? If the unit is indoors, how far is the entrance to your unit?
- Are there any High-Value items (over $500 value) being moved? If so, could you specifically list them and their approximate value here?
- Please provide us with a list of the items being moved, as exhaustive as possible and the approximate box count: 6, 12, 20ish, 50ish, 100ish.
- Will any of the listed items require assembly/disassembly?
- In the event of rain on your move day is it more important that your belongings remain dry or that the residence you are moving from be emptied under all circumstances (reclaiming apartment deposit, need to vacate, etc.)? Sometimes your furniture absolutely *cannot* become wet; other times, whatever furniture is present absolutely *cannot* remain within the residence, at all costs. We want to know what is most important to you. We make every effort to keep an eye on the weather but we rely on you to call us and let us know if you’d like to reschedule in the event of inclement weather. If we arrive and rain begins, we almost always recommend simply waiting the rain out, but must do so while on the clock.
Don’t forget to tip your Mover! A recommended tip is $2.5-10/hr/mover. For two hours of hard work the movers should receive at least $5 per mover in tip.
